Bereavement

CFHV Bereavement Program

The CFHV Bereavement Program is available at no cost to adults in Knox and Lincoln counties. It offers services to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through anticipated or unexpected death. Whether an individual prefers reading material,  or being part of a support group, our services are meant to offer the opportunity to sort through the fears, frustrations, confusion, and sadness that may accompany a death. Our program is always developing and aims to be responsive to community needs.

Support Groups Available to the Community

Coastal Family Hospice Volunteers offers volunteer-led support groups to assist individuals caring for a loved one with a life limiting illness or coping with the loss of a loved one. These groups provide a compassionate space for sharing experiences, emotions, and healing.

Drop-in Bereavement Support Group

Welcomes anyone navigating the difficult journey of grief. Meetings take place on the first Monday of every month from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Quarry Hill in Camden.   This group offers a supportive environment where participants can come together informally to discuss their grief and find solace in one another’s experiences.

Parent Bereavement Support Group

For those seeking support after the loss of a child is hosted at Nativity Lutheran Church in Rockport. Interested individuals can call 207-466-9444 to inquire about meeting dates and to register.

Caregiver Support Group For those who have taken on the challenging role of caring for loved ones. This group meets on the last Monday of every month from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Breakwater Marketplace, 91 Camden Street, Suite 408, in Rockland.

At CFHV we believe in the healing power of community support and that no one should carry the burden of caregiving or grieving alone.

Bereavement Correspondence:

Mailings are sent to those who wish them for a period of thirteen months following a death. The contents are designed to provide support and an understanding of some commonly experienced reactions to death and the grieving process, along with some suggestions that others have found helpful in living with their grief.
